Additional Driver
Additional driver will be charged at € 4 plus vat per day. Maximum charge 10 days.
Age
Renter and driver must be 21 years old for groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, I, K and 25 years old for groups H, J, M, N, O, P, L. Apart from that, drivers that are not already 25 years old, regardless of the type of the car, will be charged € 10,00 plus vat daily. Maximum charge 10 days.
Airport Surcharge
Airport surcharge: 9% for all airports except the Athens International Airport where the surcharge is 13%, based on the basic price. This surcharge is always included in the online rates.
Baby Seats
Baby seats are available upon request, charged at € 4 plus vat per day. Maximum charge 10 days.
Change of Return Location
The return of the car to a location different to the one agreed at the time of car pick up, will incur a charge of € 25,00 plus vat. Furthermore the renter will be charged the klms (if there are) between the pick up location and the drop off location. Charge is the following: € 0,60/klm plus vat. Minimum charge € 12,00 plus vat. Cross-Border Rentals
Only available under the following conditions:
1) Reservation must be made at the Reservation Department of Avis Greece (tel: +30 210 6879600, e-mail: reservations@avis.gr).
2) Reservation must be on request and only for groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, I, K, L and M.
3) With written permission of Avis Greece upon car pick up (not by reservation only).
4) Payment with Avis central billing and/or major credit card.
5) Renter must be holder of either American Express or Diners Club.
6) Renter must obtain Green Card and pay for an additional Theft Protection Insurance.
7) Renter must return the car to Greece.
8) Only applicable on Tariff Rates.
Note: Avis needs two working days minimum to obtain green card plus theft protection Insurance. The cost for that is:
- for group B: 100.00 euro
for group C: 110.00 euro
for group D: 120.00 euro
for group E: 150.00 euro
for group F: 110.00 euro
for group G: 125.00 euro
for group I: 140.00 euro

Cross border rentals is forbidden for car groups H, J, N, O and P.
The validity of Green Card and Theft Protection is for 1 month only. If the rental is more than 1 month then we need to issue additional Green Card(s) at extra cost. The cost is for the renter to pay.
Note: The client must be aware that in case the Avis car has a break down during its stay abroad, Avis is not responsible by any means for the replacement of the car with another.
Authorization is also required for moving the car by ship in Greece.
Delivery / Collection Costs
a) Car delivery not at the Avis office but within city limits costs € 12,00 plus vat.
b) Car collection not at the Avis office but within city limits costs € 12,00 plus vat.
d) Car delivery outside city limits costs € 0,60/klm plus vat. Minimum charge € 12,00 plus vat.

f) If the renter wants to return the car to a station other than the pick up station, he will be charged as following: € 0,60/klm plus vat. Minimum charge € 12,00 plus vat. Please see One Way Fees section.
g) Car deliveries not within Avis office hours are charged at € 23, plus vat. The charge will appply between 22:00 - 07:00 and especially for the Athens International Airport the charge will apply between 23:00 - 06:00. The charge will also apply at any other time that the Avis offices are closed (i.e. midday for some Avis offices). Always check online the Avis office working hours.
h) Car collections not within Avis office hours are charged at € 23, plus vat. The charge will appply between 22:00 - 07:00 and especially for the Athens International Airport the charge will apply between 23:00 - 06:00. Driver's License
Must be issued at least 12 months prior to rental.
Fuel
a) The car is delivered with a full tank.
b) Should the renter return the car with a full tank there will be no extra charge for fuel.
c) Should the renter return the car with less fuel, he will be charged € 12,00 plus vat (flat fee), plus the cost of the missing fuel.
d) The renter may pay for a tank of fuel up front, at a price competitive to the local petrol station and he may return the car empty tank. However, fuel left in the tank is not reimbursable.
e) For all rentals of 3 or more days, customer shall prepay a full tank of gasoline at the time of car pick-up and may return the car empty of gasoline. If not, Avis will not refund the remaining gasoline in the tank. If customer returns the car full of gasoline, then Avis will credit customer for the money paid for the gasoline in the beginning of the rental. For all rentals of less than 3 days customer may choose not to prepay for the gasoline but if customer returns the car with less gasoline in the tank than at the time of pick up, there will be a charge of €12, excluding VAT per rental agreement, plus the cost of the missing gasoline.
GPS
It must be stated on reservation. The charge is € 10,00 plus vat per day. Maximum charge is € 150,00 plus vat per rental agreement. If the customer returns the Avis satellite navigation system out of the pick-up Avis station, Avis will charge a one-way fee. This fee will be €20 plus VAT, if the satellite navigation system is returned in another Avis station renting the satellite navigation system. The one-way fee will be €35 plus VAT, if the satellite navigation system is returned in an Avis station which is not renting the navigation system.
Insurances & Excess Amounts
Without any additional cost, Avis provides to the renter insurance coverage for:
a) Death and injury of third party up to € 500.000
b) Material damages to third parties up to € 100.000
c) The renter is liable up to the total value of the Avis car, in case of theft or accident. Renter pays for damage or the theft of the Avis car regardless of who is at fault. If and when the party at fault compensates Avis, then the customer will be refunded the amount paid.
d) Damage Cover (CDW)
Damage Cover (CDW) is designed for accidental damage caused to the Avis vehicle other than by theft or attempted theft and includes the cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle towing, storage charges, loss of use and administrative costs. In case the renter does not accept CDW, then is liable for any damage caused to the vehicle up to the total value of the Avis car and any additional costs.
CDW covers the renter, limiting his liability on the damages caused to the following excess amounts:

e) Super Collision Damage Waiver (Super CDW)
Completely eliminates the excess amounts of Collision Damage Cover (CDW) for all car groups. Mandatory condition is that the renter completes and signs the Avis Accident Report before the end of the rental. If another vehicle is involved in the accident with the Avis car, it is mandatory that the renter calls the road assistance company, indicated by Avis, for the recording of the accident and the photographing of the vehicles.

f) Theft Cover (TP)
Theft Cover (TP) covers the renter for total or partial loss of the car. In case TP is not accepted by the renter, then he is liable for the theft or attempted theft of the vehicle up to the full value of the vehicle and any additional costs.

Note: In case of an accident or theft, the renter will still have to pay the excess amounts of CDW, Super CDW and TP, even if he was not at fault. If and when Avis recovers the cost of the damage/theft from the insurance company, then Avis will compensate the customer.
g) Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) for € 5,00 plus vat daily, provides coverage up to € 20.000 for the driver in case of death, total and partial disability and up to € 1.000 per individual for hospital expenses.
h) Super Personal Accident Insurance (Super PAI)
Super Personal Accident Insurance (Super PAI) for € 4,00 plus vat daily increases the amounts of PAI to € 50.000 and € 2.000 respectively.
i) Avis Super Cover offers Super CDW, PAI and Super PAI insurances at a low cost package. The cost of the package is much less than if the renter would buy individually all these three insurances.
No insurance covers
- The car on board ship
- Any mishappening resulting from alcohol or drug abuse
- Damages caused to the vehicle because of off road driving
- Theft or damage of any personal belongings while in the Avis car
- For damages to the undercarriage of the vehicle, tires, external mirrors and antennas.
- For accidents that take place when a driver not declared on the Rental Agreement drives the Avis car.
Even if the renter is fully covered by his credit or charge card, he will still have to pay Avis all cost incurred in repairs or replacement. Further claims can then be made by the renter himself to recover any of those costs from his credit club.
IN CASE OF AN INCIDENT, ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE K70 OF THE GREEK LΑW,
CUSTOMER IS OBLIGED TO COMPLETE AN INCIDENT REPORT FORM, REGARDLESS HIS RESPONSIBILITY OR NOT.
Incident Report
In case of an incident or a traffic violation fine, there is a non-refundable fee of € 30,00 plus vat to cover administration expenses, irrespectively of driver's liability.
Method of Payment
A credit card (Visa, Euro/Master Card, Amex, Diners or Avis) is required for all rentals. For car groups N, O, P and H two charge / credit cards must be submitted (one of them must be either Diners or American Express), even if renter finally pays in cash. However you do not need your credit card in order to make a booking online! We only request to know what type of credit card you are going to use at the actual time of rental.

Traffic Violations
In the Athens centre only vehicles with plate number that ends to an odd number can drive in the odd days of the month (ex. 1st, 3rd, 5th...31st). Vehicles with plate number that ends to an even number can drive in the even days of the month (ex. 2nd, 4th, 6th,...30th).
There is an exception for foreign visitors or Greek visitors that live permanently abroad. They can drive in the centre of Athens every day for the first forty (40) days of their stay. However they need to show among other papers, their rental agreement that proves that the rental length is not more than 40 days.
The renter assumes full responsibility for traffic violations and pays the respective fines on his own. If he does not, then the renter is charged over and above the flat amount of € 30,00 plus vat, called as "Incident Report Fee".
Vehicle Fee (VRF)
The fee is € 1,00 plus vat for every rental day with a maximum charge of € 14,00 plus vat.
